The thighs are one of the most common problem areas for people that are trying to lose weight. Some people are just prone to gaining weight in their thigh area, which can be quite frustrating. There are many individuals who are wondering how to lose thigh fat. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of thigh fat and get that fit body that one desires. The key is to perform exercises that target the quadriceps, hip adductors and hamstrings.

One of the exercises that target the quadriceps is the the side lunge. A side lunge is performed by planting the feet at least a hip’s width a part, bending the knee and stepping to one side. This exercise should be performed for 5-10 reps on each side.

The Step-up is another exercise that can be performed to work those quads. This is a very simple exercise, but it requires either a chair or an aerobic step. This should be done for 5-10 reps on each side. If a person wants faster results, he or she can add a barbell to increase the resistance. The walking lunge is another one of the popular exercises that works the quads.

This exercise is performed by bending one of the legs at a 90 degree angle, then putting the other knee close to the floor. The person should then proceed to walk forward and alternate sides with each stride.

The hip adductors also need to be work. The word “adduct” means something is coming towards the body. Two exercises that can work the hip adductors are leg lifts and hip adduction. A leg lift is performed by laying down on a mat or a bench and lifting the legs up as far as one can go. This should be done for at least 10 reps.

The hip adduction is very similar to the leg left except for the fact that it is done standing up. One performs this exercise by raising one leg while balancing the other, then switching sides. Again, this should be done for ten reps.

The hamstrings are another group of thigh muscles that should be targeted when trying to get rid of fat. The exercises that are used to build muscles in the hamstrings are relatively simple. A person can perform a leg curl lying down on a bench and use a cable cord for a resistance. A leg curl can also be performed standing up by bringing each foot as close to the buttocks as possible.

This should be done on each side. There is another hamstring exercise that many people are not familiar with called the good morning. The good morning is performed by standing straight up and bowing down. A person should go as far as the waist and make sure that the hamstrings are being worked while doing this. Several reps should be done to the best results.

It is important to note that while exercise is very effective at getting rid of thigh fat, it is not the only thing that an individual should be doing. In order to achieve the optimal results, it is advisable to eat a healthy diet along with performing exercises that target the hip muscles. If one does that, he or she will get rid of that thigh fat in no time.
